Halfpenny Cottage lies on the edge of the village of Backbarrow, once home to the Dolly Blue works. It is within the Lake District National Park about a mile from Newby Bridge and the foot of Lake Windermere. The Cottage lies within a little row of four traditional white painted cottages and is about 150 years old. It crests the hill with fabulous views of the Leven Valley and River Leven, and towards Haverthwaite Heights and the popular Steam Railway below.
